Glock on Duty in Philly’s Mean Streets

Shortly after 10 p.m., a brand-new sedan carrying two people caught the attention of a Philadelphia police officer when it made an illegal turn. Pulling up behind the car, the police officer turned on his flashing lights and pulled them over.

Obtaining the driver’s information, the officer went back to his vehicle and ran a check on the car and driver. As the check was being processed, the passenger asked the officer if he could get out and stretch. In doing so, the passenger got out and began to draw a revolver from the waistband of his pants.

The officer immediately reacted and fired once with his department-issued Glock, striking the armed passenger on his right side. Later, officers discovered that the passenger was wanted for escape and failing to appear at a court hearing. After a thorough search of the man, officers uncovered a bag of marijuana and pills adding a narcotics charge to his aggravated assault offense.
