Oklahoma County Sheriff Deputies arrived to a man sitting on the porch of a trailer. As deputies approached the man, he went inside the trailer before returning with a shotgun and a rifle.
“[The deputies] used a tremendous amount of restraint, fell back, and called for back-up,” says an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Shortly thereafter, the department’s S.W.A.T. team rolled up in a Lenco Bearcat, a S.W.A.T.-configured armored vehicle.

As the S.W.A.T. team arrived, the 50-year-old suspect fired several shots at the vehicle. Luckily for the S.W.A.T. team, the ballistic armor protected the deputies inside. Seeing no effect, the suspect fled into the trailer, allowing the S.W.A.T. team to deploy and secure the immediate area. From within the mobile home, a female managed to escape to deputies when the suspect fled inside. For five hours, deputies unsuccessfully tried to communicate with the man with a loud speaker, while an Oklahoma Highway Patrol helicopter provided aerial surveillance of the area.
