Sabertooth Hits The Trail | Sabertooth Knife

Jefferson Spivey once rode a horse from coast to coast. That trip inspired this hard-working Sabertooth knife.

Most readers are probably aware that in Pre-historic times, saber-toothed tigers roamed the earth. They killed their prey using two large inward curving teeth that were so big they looked like sabers. What most people do not know is that a saber-tooth is still among us.

sabertooth2.jpgThe story of how Jefferson Spivey came up with his idea for his Sabertooth is an interesting read and long enough to fill a book. Let’s just say that in 1968 he rode on horseback from ocean to ocean, taking seven months and covering over 4,000 miles. His experiences on that long ride led him sketching out his idea for what he wanted in a trail knife, and the Sabertooth was the result.

There are 20 Afghanistan Sabertooth knives left. Once these military models are gone. It is doubtful, now that that battle is winding down, that more will be produced.
