Since summer is just around the corner I thought it would be helpful to take a look at how we’re going to conceal our handgun of choice when we have to turn on the A/C. What follows is what works for me. It may or may not be what meets your particular requirements but it may help point you in the right direction. And, just as a reminder, we also don’t want to forget that, in addition to the handgun, all of our other personal security equipment (PSE) needs to be concealed as well (knife, phone, OC, and so on).
As readers of these pages know, a good concealment holster is a compromise of concealability, comfort, handgun retention, quick access (preferably with one hand), availability to either hand, accessibility while seated in your vehicle or at a restaurant. With those prerequisites, summertime handgun wear, with its increase in humidity and the perspiration factor, plus more opportunities to get caught in a rain shower, places a premium on stainless handguns and synthetic holsters.
