RWS offers a good selection of its Copper-Matrix NTF ammo. It is available in 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Sig, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.
There’s a great deal of misunderstanding when it comes to frangible ammunition. This is due, in no small part, to the way frangible ammunition has been manufactured and marketed over the years. Initially, frangible handgun ammunition was thought of as the MagSafe or Glaser Safety Slugs. These are defensive handgun loads filled with shot that fragment inside the target. RWS’s new Copper-Matrix NTF frangible load is strictly a target load, designed to offer a totally lead-free/steel-safe shooting experience.
Essentially, the bullets used in the RWS Copper-Matrix loads are nothing more than compressed copper particles with a binding agent. When the bullet strikes a hard surface it literally returns to its original, particle state. You’ll experience no backsplatter on steel so you can shoot steel targets up close and personal.
Another and just as important feature of this ammunition is its lead-free construction, especially for ranges that demand the use of lead-free ammunition. The Copper-Matrix NTF bullets are made without the use of any heavy metals. The fully reloadable brass cases are also primed with SINTOX primers that, like the bullets, are manufactured without heavy metals.
