The majority of us who carry concealed have never been forced to use or display our weapon, but we still continue to carry. It is, I believe, a sort of comfort level. Some of us are more comfortable in some situations than others are in similar situations. As a private investigator, I sometimes encounter situations where I am more comfortable carrying a firearm than I would be if I were unarmed. Others are not comfortable in this line of work.

I do not advise people to carry or not carry, as I feel this is a decision that only they can arrive at. Carrying a firearm can offer protection and a comfort level many of us desire but it also entails tremendous risk in the form of civil and/or criminal liability, psychological trauma and/or social rejection.
