Armalite’s AR 30 precision rifles has long been known for its accuracy, reliability, and affordability. It remains one of the best platforms for an introduction to the precision rifle world. This is especially true when it comes to the 338 Lapua Magnum.
Given the effectiveness of their muzzle brake it is one of the softest shooting magnum rifles on the market. Over the years it has remained popular but was in need of a bit of a refresh. Armailite has come through with flying colors with the introduction of their AR30A1 Rifle.
There are several changes to this rifle. Although many are less obvious, others are immediately evident. The new target stock includes forward rails and a one piece top rail that will accommodate night vision. The stock is easily adjustable for cheek height and length of pull. The new magwell encompasses the magazines eliminating rock and rattle. An ambidextrous release makes magazine changes simple and smooth. The improved muzzle brake also includes barrel threads that will accept most standard suppressors. All of this in a lightweight package.
Make sure and take a look at the upcoming article in Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement to get all the details and see if all these changes translate into real world accuracy and reliability.
