When Jacen Troxell’s father’s partner was killed in the line of duty, Troxell started a “Go Fund Me” page to raise money for bulletproof vests for other IMPD officers.
In a matter of nine days, as of Wednesday morning, the funding had surpassed its goal of $10,000 and reached $13,000. The funding page reads:
My dad’s friends have been killed in the line of duty. His friend and partner for nine years, Perry, got shot by a rifle and he died. We are raising money to buy bullet proof plates so that won’t happen again. The vests they wear now won’t stop a rifle. These add-on plates will stop many types of rifle rounds.
“When Perry Renn was shot the other week [Jacen] knew and could tell that something was wrong, that it was really affecting daddy. So we let him know Perry was one of their friends and worked on shift together,” Jacen’s mother, Tracy Troxell told Fox59 in Indiana.
Jacen and his father Andrew told Fox59 that the proceeds of the funding will buy as many vests as possible to keep officers in the North District safe.
