Chinese Foreign Ministry Says US Army Might Have Caused Pandemic

Well, here’s one we didn’t see coming. The Chinese Foreign Ministry suggested Thursday the U.S. Army might be to blame for causing the global pandemic of COVID-19. Most medical experts point to Wuhan, China, where doctors first detected and reported the virus late last year.

A foreign ministry spokesperson, Zhao Lijian, tweeted in English: “When did patient zero begin in US? How many people are infected? What are the names of the hospitals?” reported foxnews.com. He further suggested it “might be [the] US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent! Make public your data! US owe us an explanation.”

The wildly unexpected declaration that the U.S. might be responsible comes just days after a Chinese ambassador deflected the assertion China was to blame. “Although the epidemic first broke out in China, it did not necessarily mean that the virus originated from China, let alone ‘made in China,'” the unnamed ambassador tweeted, according to foxnews.com.

According to multiple reports, this marks the latest example of China attempting to place blame on the United States. The virus already claimed 4,700 lives around the globe, according to Johns Hopkins University of Center of Systems Science and Engineering, reported foxnews.com. Remarkably, the Chinese government already published a book on the subject. Published in multiple languages, it boasts about the country’s efforts in curbing the outbreak, reported foxnews.com.
