Rivers of Recovery Adds the Honorable David Bernhardt to Board of Directors
“Secretary Bernhardt’s deep experience in land use and land management for Veteran healing will be an excellent, complementary skill-set to our existing board membership,” said Jeffery Weekly, RoR Board Chair. “We are thankful for his long-standing support for our organization and the veterans we serve.”
Bernhardt joins a board including combat veterans, former Washington D.C. policymakers and veteran caregivers. The former Interior leader brings tremendous Capitol Hill experience to an organization dedicated to helping combat veterans.
“I’m privileged to work with Rivers of Recovery and assist our veterans in their ongoing recovery efforts,” said Secretary Bernhardt. “RoR is a leader in addressing the needs of our nation’s wounded warriors by finding positive treatments for their physical and mental well-being.”
Rivers of Recovery develops programs to help veterans rehabilitate from PTSD and minor Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). The organization uses outdoor recreational activities combined with instruction for self-treatment of stress, anxiety and depression. An unyielding goal remains: empower our veterans to live life unrestricted by psychological or physical disability. The organization has achieved national media attention for its unique programs and results-driven treatments. Of note, RoR combines fly fishing and other outdoor activities with scientifically designed curriculum of therapeutic techniques, according to RoR.
Incredible, RoR does all this with just a one-time cost of $2,500 per veteran. To learn more about Rivers of Recover, please visit riversofrecovery.org.
