FN is recalling certain M249S rifles in standard and PARA configurations. The reason? The Virginia-based company says it has discovered a “design issue within the hammer group of the rifle” which “may adversely affect the rifle’s reliability.” The issue is that under certain conditions, a reset failure within the hammer group could cause the M249S to stop functioning, thereby causing an unsafe firing event.
