“The thugs had been planning to kidnap the trader at around 7:30 pm and since police officers were aware of the incident, they surveyed the environment during the day and in the evening preceded the thugs and entered the compound of the businessman to wait for the gangsters,” said Nakuru Officer Commanding Police Division Bernard Kioko.
The suspects tied up the guard at the gate before getting into the compound unaware that police officers were waiting for them.
Police recovered a homemade gun, four axes, several alcoholic drinks, mobile phones, ropes and bread from the suspects. “These gangs had a rope that they planned to use to tie the victim and his family. Alcoholic drinks and bread was to be given to the victim to make him inactive during the incident,” Kioko said.
