Local Texas law enforcement are teaming up for a class to teach the public about the ins and outs of police work. The Bastrop Police Department and the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office will hold the Citizen’s Academy course beginning on Jan. 16 at Bastrop Public Library. The class will meet once a week for 12 weeks, with the graduation class scheduled for April 3. During the course of the 12-week run, sessions will also be held at the Bastrop Police Department and Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.
Topics covered in the class will include patrol duties, tactical operations, officer field training, criminal investigations, victim services, crime prevention, dispatch and communications, and much more.
Willing participants must be at least 18 years old, must live or work in Bastrop County and must successfully pass a background check.
