Congress established National Hunting and Fishing Day to recognize hunters and anglers for their leadership in fish and wildlife conservation. Since launching in1971, the day has been formally proclaimed by every U.S. President and countless governors and mayors.
The list of sponsors for National Hunting and Fishing Day 2014 includes Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, Realtree, GunBroker.com, Ducks Unlimited, Scout, Izaak Walton League, Outdoor Channel, National Wild Turkey Federation, Smith & Wesson and Yamaha.
American country singer and U.S. Army veteran Craig Morgan will serve as the 2014 honorary chairman.
“I couldn’t be happier to serve as honorary chair for National Hunting and Fishing Day,” Morgan said in a statement. “As a parent, I’ve shared my love of the outdoors with my kids and I know that conservation is key to creating a better future for upcoming generations in the outdoor sports. This is a very important day to reflect on and participate in activities that celebrate conservation efforts by sportsmen and women around the country and I hope everyone will join me in celebrating this year.”
