All donated items will be distributed to those in need around Montgomery County, Pa.
The food drive, which ran through Dec. 18, is named after Lt. Patty Simons, the first-ever female police officer in Norristown who was an early supporter of the project. She died of breast cancer in 2007.
The donations will provide up to 100,000 meals for needy families, including Christmas dinners, according to Matthew Kelly, Chairman of the Salvation Army advisory board. “This stocks our pantry. We help feed the people of Montgomery county,” he said.
