A paralyzed Michigan man hunts from his wheelchair, thanks to some groundbreaking new technology. Jake Veltman — who was left paralyzed from the neck down by a car crash — is enjoying the great outdoors once more thanks to his new “Sip and Puff,” which lets the 71-year-old shoot by inhaling and exhaling into a mouthpiece.
he bought the $2,000 gadget in 2010 when attending a hunt organized by the Ruby Creek Tavern for veterans with disabilities. Since attaching it to his 8-mm Mauser rifle, he’s already bagged two deer — a number he hopes to add to when Michigan’s hunting season opens this week.
