According to the Pensacola News Journal:
The Citizens Law Enforcement Academy is an 11-week program designed to give the public a more comprehensive understanding of what deputies do by exposing them to real police work and training.
Participants in the academy will learn how to better protect themselves from becoming a crime victim, how to report crime and the ramifications of committing a crime. They will also be taught about officer training and equipment, watch police K-9s in action, see how a crime scene is handled and more.
Classes run every Thursday from Sept. 4 through Nov. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, located at 5755 East Milton Road, Milton, Fla.
The Citizens Law Enforcement Academy is free and open to residents 18 and older. To register for this class, visit SantarosaSheriff.org and complete the CLEA application. For questions, call 983-1234.
