The Winter Olympics in Sochi security threat is the highest in the modern Olympic era, according to security experts. The Department of Homeland Security has issued a terror warning to Americans traveling to the Games, and one in seven attendees are in fact security personnel.

Russian officials contend that the threat in Sochi is no higher than that of “New York, Washington or Boston,” however, none of those cities have the multiple specific threats that the globally televised Sochi Winter Olympics.

With the prime objective being disruption and fear, the threats may have already achieved their goal.
