Founder and CEO Mark Llano said the new contract was “critical to the health of the company.” He also stressed the need to address defense issues in other parts of the world as the presence of military forces in Afghanistan dwindles.
As the Sun Sentinel reports, Source One, which was founded by Marine Corps veteran Llano in 2003, took a hit in 2013 as their revenues fell by more than 30 percent due to sequestration and the government furlough. The company managed to survive by diversifying into manufacturing supplies for agencies like the State Department and National Guard.
The Defense Logistics Agency awarded Source One the same contract back in 2009 for $5.7 billion.
