As Military Times reports, more than 126,000 people have taken part in the program. All participants get 12 months of education benefits, which are akin to full-time Montgomery GI Bill benefits.
Despite the success of the program, there was some worry that course payments would only be covered through March 2014, leaving participants in the lurch. However, the recent announcement means that participants will now receive payments through the end of the term or until June 30.
According to Military Times, VA stopped accepting new VRAP applications in October 2013. Thus far, more than $740 million has been paid out in training and benefits as part of the program.
