Tulsa Police spent Monday testing their skills against SWAT teams from around the world at the U.S. National Swat Championships.
More than 60 teams are practicing their sniper and tactical police skills.Organizers say they’re holding the championships here in Tulsa because police have a world class training facility.
“Next to the real thing, this is the hardest part of training,” said Dr. Jack O’Connor, Executive Director of the U.S. National SWAT Championships. “400 SWAT cops are watching, you have one round, a small target… you gotta be able to focus to do your task, do it successfully and quickly.”
The competition runs all week at the shooting academy in north Tulsa. The public is invited to attend and cheer on the Tulsa Police.
