Recently released officer dash and body cam footage shows a fatal police shooting in Utah. Footage shows a suspect, armed with a gun, advance on officers. Weber County Sheriff’s deputies then open fire, killing the suspect.
Weber County Sheriff’s Officers Respond
The incident began when police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a man inside a trailer in front of the caller’s home, reported the Standard-Examiner. A woman told the dispatcher gun shots awakened the couple inside the home. They then allegedly observed someone inside the trailer. More gunfire seemingly echoes in the background during the call.
Police footage shows a man emerge from behind a trailer. Identified as 32-year-old Cody Hadley, footage shows the suspect wield a gun as he advances on an officer. “Drop the gun” rings out in the footage several times. But the suspect instead appears to turn on the officer, pointing a pistol. He appears to possibly fire a shot. That’s when at least one officer opens fire. The footage clearly shows the officer with the AR-15 engage the suspect.
Police reported the rendering of medical aid on the scene. However, Hadley died from his wounds, according to the Standard-Examiner. Police Hadley was “distraught over a family issue” and allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine.
