The AK-47 has a long, venerable history and has earned a cult following over the years. With a reputation for solid performance, the AK has seen many different iterations and variations. However, it is hard to beat the original. Like any firearm, many enjoy the opportunity to accessorize their AK and create a personalized rifle. And now, the AK-47 M-Lok K-Rail handguard from Samson offers the means to add M-Lok accessories to the platform.
The Samson AK-47 M-Lok K-Rail Handguard
Samson Manufacturing teamed up with East Coast AK Specialist Ken Allen to design the handguard. The 6061-T6 aluminum extrusion handguard features a Type III class 2 hardcoat anodized black finish for long-lasting hard use. Likewise, the aluminum construction also helps keep the weight to a minimum.
Measuring 10.5 inches from the front of the receiver, the handguard shields the hand from the barrel. Likewise, the extended length provides ample room for more accessories. Similarly, the top rail features both M-Lok and Picatinny for mounting optics and other accessories.
The handguard, which works with the factory gas tube and is compatible with aftermarket gas tube rails, features easy installation. Correspondingly, the kit includes all hardware and does not require the removal of the lower handguard retainer. Additionally, twistable wedges in the receiver block allow for rotation of the handguard as needed for alignment.
Once installed, extended lip index points provide textile feedback when your thumb is getting too close to the gas tube. Likewise, recessed screws help prevent burns.
The M-Lok K-Rail handguard is available in two versions. One version features a sling loop cut, and the other, a non-sling loop version, includes steel QD sling points.
