WASHINGTON- The 2010 defense budget is still being debated by White House and Pentagon officials.  Even though the Obama administration applied a $527 billion limit on Defense Department spending, that sum is about the same amount as the projections made by the outgoing Bush administration.  That limit does not include war costs or spending on nuclear weapons and is far below the $584 billion wished for by Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
