There are several 9mm ARs available on today’s market. Here are four 9mm carbines that offer 9mm ammo versatility with a pistol and make good companion weapons for home defense.

The Mk9 T features a nitride-coated, 4140 chrome-moly, M4-profile barrel sheathed in CMMG’s RKM11 KeyMod handguard.

The topside of the handguard offers plenty of Picatinny rail space to mount a red-dot or reflex-style optic. The trigger is a mil-spec, single-stage unit. (; 660-248-2293)

Just Right Carbine Takedown

The Just Right Carbine Takedown is a completely ambidextrous carbine that uses familiar AR-style controls and a simple blowback action. It is compatible with Glock or S&W M&P magazines. The Takedown model breaks down into three components that can be stashed in a backpack or knapsack. (; 585-396-1551)

Rock River Arms LAR-9 CAR A4

The LAR-9 CAR A4 uses a forged lower with an integral magazine well paired with a dedicated 9mm forged upper receiver. The upper features an oversized brass deflector. It uses a steel, Colt-style stick magazine. The LAR-9 also comes with an accuracy guarantee of 1.5 inches at 50 yards. (; 866-980-7625)

Tresna Defense JAG9G BU

The JAG9G BU operates just like a 5.56mm AR, with similar controls, including the mag release, bolt release, charging handle, forward assist and safety selector.

What differs is that the Tresna feeds from Glock or S&W magazines. It is also 99-percent compatible with aftermarket AR-15 parts. (;  678-540-3585)
