American Tactical Imports (ATI) has recently developed the ATI OMNI Hybrid, a new fiberglass-composite polymer lower receiver for an AR—but unlike most polymers lowers this one includes a zinc metal insert at the tower where the buffer tube joins the lower. This is an area that receives the highest degree of stress and the insert significantly strengthens the entire lower receiver. The polymer also exhibits incredible strength and durability and surpasses all military pressure tests. It includes an integrated enhanced trigger guard, and beveled magazine well and weighs 0.5 ounces less than a traditional aluminum receiver.
As a stripped lower receiver it retails for less than $50 but ATI also offers it as part of a complete rifle with an aluminum upper receiver and Melonite coated 15-inch barrel with a 1-in-7 inch twist rate. The upper and lower receivers exhibited a very tight fit. The polymer lower is also very attractive, scratch resistant and completely impervious to the elements.
