Black Dawn did a lot of research before developing its new 3-gun-ready BDR-556-3GLW.
While attending and sponsoring several matches, workers at Black Dawn often heard several questions at each event. Can you offer a lightweight rifle without having reliability issues? Can you offer a rifle for 3-gun that has quality parts and is less than $1,500?

Weight was also an issue. Some shooters stated that guns that weighed between 7.5-7.8 pounds caused too much fatigue by the end of the day that their times suffered.
Black Dawn also noticed that most 3-gun rifles started at $1,349 and went to $1,999.
Taking these questions and others into consideration, Black Dawn created the 16-inch barrel BDR-556-3GLW, which is now ready for 3-gun and tactical shooters.
The 5.56mm BDR-556-3GLW features a Black Dawn 15-inch MMR rail and a Black Dawn Ion Bond Bolt Carrier Group.

With a weight of just 5.8 pounds with a 9-inch rail and 6.2 pounds with a 15-inch rail, the BDR-556-3GLW is significantly lighter than most 3-gun rifles.
