This past Saturday Freedom Group Inc. (FGI) co-sponsored one of the largest Vietnam Veteran recognition events in history. The Vietnam Veteran Homecoming Celebration of 2012, hosted by the USO of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, honored an estimated 70,000 Vietnam Veterans and their friends and families.

“Supporting our men and women in uniform, past and present, is a paramount obligation for all Americans,” said George Kollitides, acting chief executive officer and executive chairman of the FGI board. “As a manufacturer of many of the arms our brave soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen take into battle, we are proud to sponsor a major event that recognizes their sacrifice.”

Freedom Group has always been the leader in national defense with brands including North Carolina-based Remington Defense. Since the middle of the 19th century, whenever American forces stepped onto the field of battle, Remington weapons were there with them. Today, many of the 14 companies comprising the Freedom Group family work with the United States military, supplying our troops with the highest quality firearms, ammunition and related products.

“Too often it’s easy for us, sheltered by the security of American life, to forget those who put their lives on the line to ensure our freedom,” continued Kollitides. “Never has this been more true than with those who served in Vietnam. On behalf of the entire Freedom Group family of companies, it was an honor to be a part of this important event.”
