The Colt 1911 Classic sports a 70 Series firing system and royal blue finish.

Colt made some waves on the Internet recently with the quiet launch of its newest pistol, the Royal Blue 1911 Classic. And though Colt didn’t make a big fuss about it, social media responded. Colt fans seem to be going nuts over this timeless approach to Colt’s most famous pistol.

Colt 1911 Classic Details

It all starts with the revered Series 70 firing system. The pistol also includes a National Match Barrel, a Colt upgrade on select pistols for decades. Additionally, the 1911 Classic includes staked on front sights and a spurred hammer, adding to its old school feel.

But the high polish blue finish might be the coolest aspect here. We’ve only seen pictures online, but from what we’ve seen so far it appears legit. Colt describes it as a “mirrored, high polish royal blue finish.”

To complete the timeless look, the pistols sports a Colt Custom rollmark. Rosewood grips and an inlaid gold Rampant Colt medallion complete this elegant, traditional Government Model.

Colt arguably still owns the most timeless, famous and important brand in all the gun industry. And with that the company’s decisions and moves bring unprecedented scrutiny at times. But with Colt Custom 1911, Colt again flexes its muscles. And when Colt flexes, we all stand up and take notice.
