New from Springfield comes the 1911 Operator, a duty grade defensive pistol with the features serious shooters demand.
Springfield Armory 1911 Operator
The 1911 Operator features a forged slide and frame. This increases the pistol’s durability over other company’s pistols that use cast slides and frames. Additionally, the forged frame features an integral Picatinny rail on the dust cover. This allows serious defensive minded uses to mount accessories like weapon-mounted lights on their pistol.
Shooter Friendly Features
Packed full of the design elements that shooters want, the Springfield 1911 Operator is ready out of the box. Thoughtful design features include:
- Ambi safety
- Tritium front sight
- Includes two 8-round magazines
- Forward cocking serrations
- Skeletonized hammer
- Black Cerakote finish
Accuracy and Shootability
The shooter-friendly features help make the gun easy to shoot fast and accurately. Additionally, a match-grade barrel enhances the 1911s accuracy. This barrel delivers top-notch accuracy and extended barrel life. Paired with a simple and reliable classic 1911 barrel bushing that, as a result, guarantees tight lockup and excellent shot to shot accuracy. The 1911 Operator also features G10 grips that give a high traction grip. Furthermore, these grips help shooters control recoil with a no slip surface. They also aid fast reloads thanks to the scallop cut behind the magazine release button.
Range and Carry Ready
“Springfield Armory 1911 pistols are renowned for their performance, strength and capabilities,” says Steve Kramer, VicePresident of Marketing. “With this new Operator, shooters get a duty-grade 1911 with the features they expect from a premiere fighting pistol.” Out of the box, the new Operator is ready to go. Whether you’re looking for a serious 1911 for carry, home defense, or practical shooting competition, the Operator will get the job done. Its MSRP runs a reasonable $1,099. That’s a lot of features for a solid price.
