NEW DELHI – Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram will visit Washington Jan. 9-10 to discuss with U.S. officials how to model India’s future Homeland Security Agency based off the U.S. Department of Homeland Security model, said sources in the Indian Home Ministry.

Chidambaram, who replaced Home Minister Shiv Raj Patel as a fallout of the Nov. 26 Mumbai terrorist attacks, is scheduled to meet with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and members of President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team.
