The recent trend in law enforcement today is toward so-called “cruiser carbines”; this is due to many factors, the infamous North Hollywood Bank Robbery, and the upgraded terrorism alert status of our agencies, to name just two. Not to mention the penetration liability associated with building clearing and heavier projectiles.
Another trend is the parent agency’s approval of the individual officer purchasing a cruiser carbine, and use on patrol after first successfully completing a state-mandated qualification course. The next question is what rifle most officers can afford that addresses their requirements. Most officers have financial responsibilities that include mortgages, family needs, etc., so an affordable system is necessary.
