In an effort to curb the increasing frustration caused by pirate activity and small-boat attackers, the U.S. Navy could get a new non-lethal tool to disarm these threats. A high-powered millimeter-wave ray that has been requested for use in Iraq is among some of the options the Navy is considering after issuing an “urgent need statement” for nonlethal defense mechanisms to keep attackers at bay.
