In the spring of 2005, the United States Marine Corps solicited proposals to replace the Unertl 10X sniper scope in use for nearly 25 years. Samples accepted from the world’s top riflescope manufacturers were subjected to the most rigorous testing and evaluation ever conducted.
Of the many products submitted, the Schmidt & Bender 3-12X50mm PM II was the only riflescope able to meet the Marine Corps’ strict requirements and specifications.
Operating as the US manufacturing facility for Schmidt & Bender optics, Premier Reticles, Ltd., located in Winchester, VA, was awarded the prestigious, highly coveted honor of supplying the USMC’s new scout sniper day scope. The chosen Schmidt & Bender 3-12 x 50 PMII LP features a First Focal Plane illuminated Gen 2 Mil-dot™ reticle pattern designed and patented by Dick and Chris Thomas of Premier Reticles. For over six decades, Premier Reticles has built reputation for being one of the most respected and trusted resources in the sniper community.
While this USMC version is not available to the public, a similar model of the 3-12 x 50 PMII LP, including the Gen 2 mil-dot reticle is available.
