The Weatherby Mark V Hunter.

Since its introduction, the Mark V line of premium bolt-action rifles, from Weatherby, keeps growing. Providing a strong action and enhanced ergonomics, the Mark V line is a shooter’s platform. Building on the Weatherby legacy comes the latest in the Mark V lineup, the Hunter, with multiple chambering options.

The Weatherby Mark V Hunter Bolt Action

As the name implies, the Hunter is designed with hunters in mind. It builds out from a freshly-designed stock, that adopts its design cues from the Mark V Backcountry 2.0. Adopting the Backcountry’s features, the Hunter also has the same trim, flat-bottomed forend, ambidextrous palm swells and aluminum pillar construction. However, the Hunter has a unique Granite Speckle finish.

According to the company, the Mark V utilizes the world’s strongest action. This is especially due to its signature multi-lug bolt system, inspired by the interrupted thread style of lockup. Additionally shielding it from the elements, a shell of Cobalt Cerakote seals the action.

All Mark Vs are available in Standard, as well as Magnum action sizes. The Standard employs a six-lug design, while the beefier Magnum has nine locking lugs. As a result, the action can safely chamber the hottest commercially available cartridges on the market. Similarly, the deep-fluted bolt with removable knob, trims a little weight and helps clear dust and debris. Although, it also reduces the bearing surface within the action, providing smoother operation.

In addition, enhancing safety are three rings of steel around the base of the cartridge when it is in battery. Likewise, a fully-enclosed bolt shroud and three gas relief ports in the body vent pressure, in the event of an ammunition failure.

The Mark V Hunter is available in .240 Weatherby Magnum, .25-06 Remington, .247 Wby. Mag., 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Weatherby RPM, .270 Win, .270 Wby., .243 Winchester Mag., 7mm-08 Rem., 280 Ackley Improved, 7mm Rem. Mag., 7mm Wby. Mag., .308 Win., .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win. Mag., and .300 Wby. Mag.
