For agencies and operators who have been taken out of the .338 Lapua game due to cost, Savage Arms has a solution. At less than $2,500, the 110 BA rifle will get you some serious range and penetration, firing a round that has shown impressive results against car engines and other hard barriers. And at ranges between 300 and 500 yards, such as at an airport or in the backcountry, the .338 Lapua is superb. Southpaws will be pleased to know that the Savage 100 BA bolt action is now available in a left-handed model. Author David Bahde simply mounted a 5-25X riflescope and got down to the business of putting this rifle through its paces. While no lightweight at 15.75 pounds (sans scope), the 110 BA’s accuracy was about as good as it gets for a .338 Lapua: “Shooting the Tubb Tactical Stake Target at 300 and 500 yards, it was dead on, holding under 1 MOA throughout.” To learn more, check out the August 2013 issue of Special Weapons for Military & Police, available on newsstands and digitally on June 25, 2013.
