Yankee Hill Machine (YHM) has recently started producing its premier rifles in Flat Dark Earth, dubbing them the Desert Enforcers. Author Jorge Amselle writes, “While black is popular with law enforcement agencies deploying ARs as patrol rifles, an increasing number of them are choosing colors to match their uniforms, including some Sheriff SWAT teams that are deploying OD green rifles…Of course, most officers aren’t concerned with having a fashionable and matching ensemble—what they are concerned about is performance.” And the Desert Enforcer certainly delivers. This 5.56mm rifle is all mil-spec inside, operates on a direct gas impingement system and is based on the company’s well-regarded Todd Jarrett Competition Series of ARs to meet the exceedingly intense needs of high-speed tactical competitors. The rifle also features YHM’s popular Annihilator flash suppressor, which reportedly eliminates 99 percent of visible flash. Amselle reports, “[I]ndeed, I saw none on the range…there is a significant intimidation factor built into this flash suppressor.” To find out what happens when the author wrings out the YHM over two days of testing (do you smell sub-MOA in the air?) check out the October 2013 issue of Special Weapons for Military & Police, available on newsstands and digitally on August 20, 2013.
