Summer is upon us and as we change our clothing requirements to adapt to the warmer weather, the first things to go are the heavy winter coats and vests that allowed us to easily conceal a full-size service handgun. In addition, many people will now have a difficult time of wearing a handgun, which they cannot take into their place of business. While there are an increasing number of small handguns to choose from for hot weather wear, the snubby really comes into its own at this time of year.
This is where the stainless revolver with a synthetic grip is especially practical. Whether damp from rain, humidity (like leaving an air conditioned office to walk to your car) or perspiration, simply wipe it clean at the end of the day and you’re good to go. You have lots of snubby choices available from Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Taurus and Charter Arms. In high-humidity coastal regions, a little extra care may be needed because stainless is not impervious to corrosion. Wooden grips and leather holsters can also take a beating in this environment.
