The trucks carry 55 gallons per tank. Three were emptied draining the unit of nearly 150 gallons–that’s about $500 worth.
The bigger question is: with no clear signs of entry into the secure lot surrounded by barbed wire fencing, how did the thief get that much fuel out of there?
“It wasn’t just one person. It was possibly several and I’m sure they had five-gallon jugs to carry it out with,” said Rob Stinnett with the Huntington Police Dept.
