A revived armed reconnaissance helicopter contract from the US Army has attracted some of the largest US- and European-based helicopter makers, after the army announced its decision to reassess its performance requirements. Among the top helicopter makers vying for the winning bid are AugstaWestland, Boeing, EADS North America, Sikorsky and Bell Helicpoter. The companies say they will respond to an army “sources sought” notice, which informs the service of what available technologies the companies are able to build and provide.
