Batteries fail. Glass cracks. We all know things can go sideways. Backup iron sights (BUIS) ensure you and your rifle stay in the fight. With the press of a button, deploy a set of BUIS that keep you on target.

Another beautiful aspect of the AR platform is that your BUIS can be mounted in an offset position so they can be used in conjunction with an optic. Then you simply use your optic for distant work and roll the gun slightly to use the BUIS for close work.

BUIS can also be co-witnessed with an optic, giving you some targeting redundancy. And redundancy is never a bad thing when your life is on the line.

Scroll through our list below for a look at some of the best backup iron sights currently available.
