It all started late last fall as a traffic stop of a suspected burglar in a neighboring county, but things rapidly went south. The primary bad guy wound up fighting a detective down the side of an embankment. He was able to get back to the road first and stole the police unit and high-tailed it into our county. Shots were fired.
He soon ditched the police interceptor and took off on foot into an area of cedar thickets, oak forest, broken rocky terrain dotted with caves, sinkholes and abandoned farms about 10 miles square.
