Our friends at SoldierSystems.net traveled to the National Capitol Region for the 2014 ADS Federal Range Day hosted by Trijicon, an annual event which draws various customers and over 60 vendors on hand to showcase their wares. One item of particular interest was the 2014 Polaris Sportsman ACE, a single-seat 4×4 UTV with a fully-enclosed ROPS cab frame and a 32 horsepower, 4-Stroke Pro-Star Single Cylinder engine.
The Sportsman ACE from Polaris has an overall size of 90″ x 48″ x 68″ and boasts a high-backed, adjustable, centralized bucket seat, a steering wheel with 3.5 in/8.9 cm of tilt adjustment, a 3-point seat belt, side nets and floor-mounted pedals. It also comes with instrumentation such as a digital gauge, a tachometer, an analogue speedometer, an AWD indicator, an odometer and a DC outlet. This vehicle also comes equipped with halogen lighting.
As SoldierSystems.net points out, the Sportsman ACE has a combined storage capacity of 360 pounds due to the sealed front box and rear cargo bed, and it can tow up upwards of 1500 pounds. It also has MacPherson Strut front suspension and Dual A-Arm rear suspension. The engine, meanwhile, is stored at the rear of the vehicle and uses an electronic fuel injection system and liquid cooling. The fuel tank has a capacity of 5.25 pounds. Similar to their other off-road vehicles, Polaris has fitted the Sportsman ACE with on-demand true all-wheel drive (AWD).
“The introduction of the Sportsman ACE is part of our strategy to remain the leader in the powersports marketplace by introducing innovative products that define their categories,” David Longren, vice president of Polaris’ Off-Road Division, said in a press release. “In creating the Sportsman ACE, we wanted to not only appeal to current off-road enthusiasts, but develop a vehicle that brings new customers to off-road recreation. We accomplished this by coupling an easy-to-use, nimble platform with a confident and secure ride that, together, provides drivers of all experience levels a new way to experience the outdoors.”
According to SoldierSystems.net, the Sportsman ACE looks to be a great single-occupant vehicle which could be utilized for patrol, surveillance, off-road pursuit, and tracking by law enforcement and military customers. Watch the video below to see the Sportsman ACE in action.
