Magpul M-LOK System

The editors at SPECIAL WEAPONS FOR MILITARY & POLICE (SWMP) know how to accessorize … firearms, that is.

Here’s a list of six new products that grabbed their attention in the August 2014 issue.

DeSantis Buttstock Cheek Pad

Recoil is one of several major factors that can diminish performance and accuracy among shooters. DeSantis’ Buttstock Cheek Pad is an ideal solution to help prevent slipping and harsh feedback to the cheek and neck area. Its hook and loop system with a strap ensures a secure fit that will work with all rifle stocks. DeSantis builds the pads with its Nemesis material, which ensures the padded neoprene will be perfect for comfort and durability. (; 800-424-1236)

Magpul M-LOK System

In 2007, Magpul Industries designed the MOE slot system as a direct attachment method for hard mounting accessories to a negative-space mounting point. Now the company has unveiled its new M-LOK (Modular Lock) system, which is being released as a free-licensed platform to allow for greater compatibility among accessories throughout the industry. While retaining the elongated-slot appearance similar to the MOE’s, M-LOK slots are larger with squared sides. Optimized for both metal and polymer manufacturing, the M-LOK system is backwards compatible with MOE gear, and it allows for multi-directional mounting with recoil/impact-mitigation lugs. Maxpedition UnterDuffel

Maxpedition’s new UnterDuffel Adventure Bag is the company’s newest (and smallest) offering in its line of popular duffel bags. With an overall size of 13 by 9 by 20 inches, the bag is small enough to fit under airplane seats, and its stowable backpack straps won’t snag or tangle up at the airport. The UnterDuffel also features several rows of seven-channel PALS webbing, grab handles made from 1.5- and 2-inch webbing, three slip pockets, two mesh pockets and adjustable compression straps with quick-release buckles. Maxpedition offers the UnterDuffel in five colors. (; 310-768-0098)

Mission Spec Essentials Only Carrier

Mission Spec’s popular Essentials Only Carrier (EOC), introduced in December of 2013, provides law enforcement officers a lightweight plate carrier capable of offering full Level IV protection. Now, Mission Spec is offering its EOCs in Kryptek Highlander, Kryptek Typhon, Instructor Red and Ranger Green patterns. As with previous EOCs, these new options are made of 1,000-denier Cordura nylon, they remain low profile, and they weigh only 23 ounces. Each Essentials Only Carrier is mil-spec, Berry compliant, and designed, tested and manufactured in the U.S.A. (; 785-727-0550)

Shield CQS

Looking for the smallest and lightest red-dot sight on the market? Look no further than Shield’s Close Quarter Sight (CQS). Don’t be fooled by the size and weight of the CQS; it is built to withstand the harshest military environmental specifications. Shield offers a variety of mounts, including Picatinny and bespoke fittings for a variety of magnifying scopes. Several spacers are also available so that you can adjust the height of the red dot. The CQS is available with a 1-MOA red dot surrounded by a 65-MOA circle, or just 4- or 8-MOA red dots. (

Tac Shield Bi-Pods

Shooters looking to improve their aim while maintaining their mobility can’t go wrong with Tac Shield’s new heavy-duty tactical Bi-Pods. Made of high-grade aluminum and given a matte black finish, Tac Shield’s standard and pivoting Bi-Pods are durable and ready for hard use. In terms of versatility, the Bi-Pod precision leg locks can be adjusted and extended, which makes them perfect for all types of surfaces. A spring release button also allows the legs to be retracted quickly, allowing shooters to quickly move to new positions. (; 910-687-4695)
