LuminAID is a solar-powered light which inflates, resulting in a lightweight lantern. It is a safe, sustainable and portable light system which is perfect for recreational use outdoors or in the home as another source of light. In addition, the LuminAID is easily rechargeable after 6 to 7 hours in the sun and is capable of providing between eight and sixteen hours of LED light, depending on the setting. It comes with a high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panel and a Lithium-Polymer Ion battery which has hundreds of recharge cycles. The LuminAID has an overall weight of 3 ounces and is waterproof up to one meter deep. Manufacturer suggested retail price for this new product is $19.95. See below for a list of features and a video featuring the LuminAID solar light.
LuminAID has also launched their Give Light, Get Light program, which sees the company joining forces with NGOs and non-profits around the world to distribute LuminAID Lights to people who would benefit from a safe, rechargeable source of light, as opposed to dangerous and expensive kerosene lanterns. Thus far, LuminAID lights have been distributed in over a dozen countries.
