As law enforcement officers, we watch the evening news with a different perspective than those outside of our vocation. Given this perception, we notice things most wouldn’t, and a lot of us probably view events unfolding on the screen while thinking about what we would do in similar circumstances. Obviously, it’s better to learn from the errors of others rather than repeating those same mistakes.
We don’t always have control over the scenarios that we face, but what we must strive for is to control as many of the variables as possible in each situation. Two of the best ways to do so are through proper and appropriate training and equipment.
