A total of 27 Kentucky-based law enforcement agencies have been awarded more than $120,000 in grants that will be used for body armor and other equipment.
Grants like the Law Enforcement Protection Program grants that were awarded are administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, according to the Associated Press.
The agency uses funds from sales of confiscated weapons, in conjunction with the Kentucky State Police, which conducts periodic auctions to federally licensed firearms dealers.
