Over 20 law enforcement agencies are in Lee County this week for the annual Alabama Tactical Officers Association Conference.
This is the first year the conference is being held in Auburn. The conference is headed up by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Auburn Police Department, and Opelika Police Department. “It’s a great way for SWAT teams to learn new techniques that will help them do their job better,” said Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.
There are 15 SWAT teams that will train and compete all this week to see who has the best team. “Competition gets everyone’s heart rate up and it lets them experience events that could happen in real life events,” said ATOA President Shane Mayfield.
