FORT BENNING, Ga. – Soldiers of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit have scored some major victories recently. The following results are some of their accomplishments:
* International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup, Kerrville, Texas, May 7 – USAMU shotgun shooter Spc. Jeffrey G. Holguin brought home the Bronze Medal in Double Trap from the World Cup USA.
* National Rifle Association Indoor National Pistol Championships, Fort Benning, Ga., May 7 – The USAMU Service Pistol Team won the 2008 NRA Indoor National Pistol Team Championship. Staff Sgt. James M. Henderson took second place overall and Staff Sgt. Robert S. Park II placed third.
* Big Ed’s Memorial Rifle Competition, Oak Ridge, Tenn., May 2 to 5 – Service rifle shooter Sgt. Brandon K. Green won the overall individual championship and Sgt. 1st Class Lance D. Dement won the President’s Match. The USAMU Service Rifle Team won the team match; team members were Green, Dement, Sgt. 1st Class Grant L. Singley and Spc. Tyrel L. Cooper.
* Pensacola Regional Conventional Pistol Championship, Pensacola, Fla., May 3 to 4 – Henderson won the individual championship with a score of 2,668 points out of a possible 2,700; Sgt. 1st Class Eric G. Daniels finished in second place with a score of 2,655. Henderson also won the Center Fire aggregate, followed by Sgt. 1st Class Gregory S. Wilson in second and Daniels in third. Henderson took the .45-Caliber aggregate with Staff Sgt. Adam E. Sokolowski taking second and Sgt. Michael S. Gasser third. Daniels won the .22-Caliber Match, in which Henderson was third. The USAMU Service Pistol Team won all the team matches with a team aggregate score of 3,531 points out of 3,600, which was the highest score posted by an Army Team in more than 30 years.
