Motorists should be on alert Tuesday for traffic delays and interruptions around La Follette High School on Pflaum Road on the east side, where the Madison Police Department is conducting “large scale event” response training.
An example of such an event would be a school or shopping mall mass shooting.
Dane County Public Safety Communications will activate an automated calling system to alert residents near La Follette to the training, which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Neighbors with questions or concerns during the exercise can contact police at 266-4923.
The police department is being joined by the Madison Fire Department, Dane County Dispatch and the Madison Metropolitan School District in the training, according to a police news release.
